Important communication link. Liaise with Volleyball England, area associations, Sport England and other regional and national bodies.Committee Meetings - Circulate agenda 2 weeks before meeting. Distribute to all regional executive, area chairpersons and secretaries, Development Officer(s), Regional Sport England and Volleyball England.Affiliations - check the listings received from the Volleyball England against teams playing in the region. Chase up any unregistered clubs.
Controls the finances of association (3 bank accounts). Provides a financial statement at every committee meeting.
Youth Development Officer
Plans and co-ordinates the regional junior squad’s training program, including the Inter Regional Championships. Liaise with relevant area junior development officers. Organises the inter area junior tournament.
Regional Coaching Administrator
Co-ordinate courses, training opportunities and meetings in conjunction with relevant area association personnel. There are detailed guidelines from the Volleyball England Coaches Commissions outlining the areas of work.
Regional Referees Administrator
Co-ordinate courses, training opportunities and meetings in conjunction with relevant area association personnel. There are detailed guidelines from the Volleyball England Referees Commissions outlining the areas of work.
League Secretaries - Men and Women
Premier League - Entries, Rules, Team Meetings, Promotion play-offs.
Mitre and YVA Cup - 1 day tournaments.
Inter Area Tournaments - Senior Squads, Area league winners.
Publicity activities aimed at raising the profile of the sport. E.g. Regional Web site. In the past this has also involved a Regional Newsletter - Items of news, courses, league tables, area activities and a Regional Handbook - Details of all clubs, fixtures, courses known at the time (by October).
Attend committee meetings. Take minutes. Apportion responsibility for further actions. Distribute minutes within 2 weeks of meeting.
Tries to get all of the above to happen! Maintain contact with area chairpersons to keep in touch with the activities of the areas.The chairman is also expected to attend Volleyball England Regional Commission meetings. This is a forum which formulates Volleyball England policy first hand, meet other regions, share successes and problems. You need to be active to know your region to be able to contribute.
All area chairpersons are expected to be YVA vice chairmen and feed information and ideas into YVA.
